Turning to Private Companies for Energy Services

Collier Township is a small community in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The same county where Pittsburgh is! Collier Township has energy needs and has turned to a private company for its energy provision needs. Pennsylvania is one of a number of states in the U.S.A. where cities, individuals, and businesses can contract private companies to provide their energy.

The Collier Township, a family based community located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, recently entered into a two year contract with Glacial Energy to supply electricity to all city owned property.. During a Commissioners meeting in December, members voted 4-0 to begin said contract with Glacial Energy.  While Commissioner Kay Downey-Clark noted that Duquesne Light would remain the electric distributor for the town, Glacial Energy will become the electric supplier.
