Helping Bears Be Awesome
The Awesome Bear Society is the booster club of Maranacook Community High School. This is one of many booster clubs all over the countries that help students in various under-funded high schools to achieve the things they want to do. Whether it’s funding a band trip to a competition, getting the flag girls new uniforms, or having the football field repainted–booster clubs usually have a hand in it.
Glacial Energy is an energy and natural gas supplier, which of course has very little to nothing to do with schools. However, Glacial Energy didn’t let that stop them from helping out the local community by donating $1,000 to support the Awesome Bear Society’s annual golf tournament in Maranacook, Maine. That $1,000 donation helped the Awesome Bear Society to raise a total of $11,500 to support athletic programs, debate, music, drama, competitive math and science teams, student government activities, etc.
This is a worthy cause, particularly with the education cuts being so deep all over the country–the first things to go from the budget are bonuses for staffers and extra-curricular activities.
